Subject: Meiji ML9200 polarizing pol petrographic lab microscope
Meiji ML9200 Polarizing Petrographic Binocular Lab Microscope, in excellent, like-new condition.
Meiji is possibly the last company to make all of their lab and clinical microscopes in Japan. This is the ML9200 model, which is still in production and described on their website (http://www.meijitechno.com/ml9000.htm). Those who use Meiji microscopes know their good design, high quality, and smooth operation. This example is in near-perfect condition with not much sign of use, and at a price less than half of new.
The four Meiji DIN 160 mm tube-length "P" (pol or strain-free) objectives are all in perfect condition, and include an SM Plan 4X/0.10, Plan 10X/0.25, SM Plan 40X/0.65 with retracting tip, and SM Plan 60X/0.80 with retracting tip. The intermediate tube has a Bertrand lens, a sliding-plate analyzer filter and a 6x20 mm DIN slot for the included Olympus 1/4-wave compensating plate. The binocular head includes fine high-eyepoint wide-field HWF10X eyepieces, with the right one containing a crosshair reticle. This ocular is focusable and has a pin for holding it fixed in the eyepiece tube.
The smooth circular stage shows no wear, and it has a locking screw. The focusing gear has an auto-stop lever to prevent collisions of the stage with the objectives, and an excellent pol mechanical X-Y slide holder is included (an expensive but really nice accessory). There is a 30 watt halogen lamp in the base with a rotary controller and power-on light. The adjustable and centerable condenser has a diaphragm and a swing-out filter holder (no filters are included). A swing-out polarizing filter that can rotate is fitted over the field lens. It all fits into a new reinforced nylon storage/carrying case. A printer copy of the instruction manual is included.
This polarizing microscope is in extremely fine condition, ready to serve you for many years. I will warrant that when this scope leaves my shop, it is complete, clean, adjusted, tested, and functioning as described.
