TRISTAN is a versatile spectrometer that measures and displays the spectral allocation of the injected light in the following modes: absorption, reflection, transmission and fluorescence. It is a compact and totally self-contained spectrometer where the light input is by means of a removable fiber.
The TRISTAN 5 has a built-in colour Touch-Screen enabling direct communication with the unit, selection
of the measurement parameters, and viewing of collected data. The on-board intelligence allows you to perform measurements without the need of further calculations. Temperature sensitive dark current compensation, dark noise correction, amplitude correction ... all done automatically. You can either store spectra directly on the internal memory or use the integrated SmartMedia™ Card Interface. No PC’s are required in order for the TRISTAN 5 to function and make measurements. It is independent of electrical outlets and is a lightweight portable device; it can work for hours on its own rechargeable batteries.
Three configurations of the TRISTAN engine are based on the Hamamatsu S9840. For high-end applications, they offer much higher sensitivity at reasonable costs. These configurations set new standards for off-the-shelf spectrometers with regard to sensitivity, dynamic range and noise.

UV-VIS spectrometer with Hamamatsu back thinned CCD S9840 detector:
Pixel resolution and sensitivity are given by the detector. The light-sensitive area on the detector is physically limited. It can either be divided into many small pixels for higher resolution or in less but bigger pixels for higher sensitivity. The daily challenge for detector manufacturers is to increase the sensitivity without decreasing the resolution. m-u-t spectrometers rely on state-of-the-art detector technology from the world’s leading manufacturers of optoarrays such as Sony, Hamamtsu, Toshiba, Sensors Unlimited and others.
Three configurations of the TRISTAN engine are based on the Hamamatsu S9840. For high-end applications, they offer much higher sensitivity at reasonable costs. These configurations set new standards for off-the-shelf spectrometers with regard to sensitivity, dynamic range and noise.
