* Self-contained, menu-driven, microprocessor controlled, fully programmable, high volume tissue processor
* Processing tissue in a stationary retort through a sequence of fixation, dehydration, clearing and paraffin impregnation steps
* Processing tissue in the solution can be enhanced by heat, vacuum-only, pressure-only, and a combination of pressure-vacuum cycles to enhance the infiltration process.
* User-friendly integrated control panel features 15 processing programs including 10 reagent and 3 paraffin steps, and 4 cleaning programs.
* Includes serial communication, printer and remote alarm ports.
* Option to set passcode protection, preventing unauthorized program editing.
* Has a unique instrument pretest option which performs a full diagnostic test of the instrument prior to commencing processing.
* Manual operation functions allow retort filling, draining, pressurizing, evacuating, heating and stirring to be performed without running a program.
* Retort: easy to clean stainless steel. Capacity of three tissue baskets holding 100 cassettes each; total 300 cassettes. Magnetic stirrer in retort for maintaining more even temperature throughout processing area.
* Reagent Cabinet: 10 reagent bottles made from high density polyethylene. Volume: 2 to 4.5 liters each. Bottles can be either manually filled/emptied or filled/emptied from a remote container via a plug-in hose. 3 clean cycle bottles for xylene, alcohol and water. Water/detergent rinse feature. 4 user programmable cleaning cycles.
* Dimensions are 23.6"w x 25.6"d x 49.6"h.
This unit was manufactured in 1999 by Leica, and purchased by UNC-Chapel Hill, NC in late 2000. The system has been in full service contract with Vashaw Scientific and has been well taken care of. The latest service date was Nov.1, 2006, and is due to service on Nov.1, 2007. The owner of this unit obtained new research grants, bought new instruments and retired this one in Feb. 2007. This is NOT a rebuilt unit with unauthentic parts and unknow usage history.
