The CoaSYS is an automated analyzer designed for the optical determination of coagulation parameters in plasma like PT, APTT, Fibrinogen and Thrombin Time. The optical system detects the clot formation by continuous reading of optical density values. The timer and the mixing systems are activated when a variation of the optical density is detected; this and the sample in contact with the reagent, triggers the measurement of the reaction’s starting point and defines the reaction’s end, thus following the clot formation. Continuous mixing operation provides the ideal homogenization facilitating the quantitative measurement of fibrinogen levels even at low concentrations; this is due to the fibrin filaments that agglutinate in the centre of the analyzer’s optical path.
