All drawers are fitted with black-plated ball bearing suspension. ABOUT JASPER: Actually, by the time this 1889 photo was taken, the woodcraftsmen at Jasper Desk had already been producing top quality wood office furniture for over 13 years. Back then, as today, the durability, strength, and our legacy built over years of service were the hallmarks of our quality furniture. FINISH: All units finished with two coats of low sheen lacquer. Tops and arm slides hand buffed to a satin sheen blending with base for uniform light reflectance. TOP: Faces of tops are made up of 8 piece center matched Carpathian Elm burl imported from Southern France. Elm face is bordered with three inch pencil striped quartered walnut. All elm faces two ply bonded with100%waterproff Tego glue to assure hold down of elm burl. VENEERS: Pencil striped quartered walnut veneer on all end and back panels. Carpathian Elm burl veneers on all overlays and regular door and drawer fronts. HARDWARE: Windsor Antique Brass finish on drawer pulls and knobs. All drawers equipped with black plated ball bearing metal suspensions. File drawer has heavy duty black plated ball bearing full extension suspension. File drawers equipped with legal or letter size cross filing. Paracentric key lock in center drawer. Metal locking device locks all drawers. CONSTRUCTION: Tops of select plywood banded with walnut lumber rims tongue and grooved and mitred at corners. Mortise and tenon construction on all drawer bars, base rails, and rails. Outside end and back panels are tenoned into heavy solid walnut legs. End and back panels of 5 ply construction ½ inch think. All overlays have Carpathian Elm burl faces securely fastened to end and back panels. All end aprons and top drawer fronts are of solid walnut with vertical fluting. All end panels, back panels and regular drawer fronts are framed with solid walnut moulding mitred on all corners. All drawers have French dovetail at front and regular dovetail at back. Drawer sides and backs of solid walnut. Plywood walnut drawer bottoms. STORAGE: All regular drawers grooved for adjustable partitioning with partitions of solid walnut. Center drawer equipped with pen and pencil trays and miscellaneous storage compartments. BASE: Tapered recessed base to eliminate kicking and scuffing from cleaning.
